Hand in hand with Japanese local municipalities and citizens, PolicyGarage designs effective, human-centered policies, shares the joy of creating a better society, and expands the circle of the like-minded across Japan. Diverse individuals gather here seeking fresh ideas, opportunities for challenge, and trusted peers.
A Platform for Learning ー We provide participatory learning opportunities such as monthly study groups, online seminars, and training sessions. Learn the latest insights and practical field knowledge alongside peers nationwide.
A Platform for Challenge ー We combine various methodologies to identify the truly critical “questions” that need solving, visualize ideas, and prototype services. We co-create new solutions by fully engaging both left and right brain thinking. We tackle challenges across diverse fields nationwide—poverty alleviation, disease prevention and health promotion, better education, and building environmentally sustainable societies. We pursue better solutions relentlessly, evaluating outcomes scientifically whenever possible.

The role of local governments in delivering public policy at the front lines and supporting the lives of every citizen is crucial, yet difficult to achieve alone. PolicyGarage realize open innovation in policy by providing partners with skills and experience difficult to secure locally and bridging the deep gaps between local governments, ministries, academia, private businesses while anchoring itself in local governments. Engaging in the realization of more fulfilling citizen lives and communities, we also consider it our vital mission to rediscover the joy of engaging in policy and public service while expanding the circle of like-minded partners nationwide.
